As a professional pet photographer, I finally stepped in front of the camera to capture my own family — my husband and our dogs. After my dog’s cancer diagnosis and remission, I invested over $5,000 in a professional session to document our love, laughter, and everyday moments. Here’s why it was worth every penny — and why preserving your memories with your pets matters more than you might think.

Lena and Birdie’s story is nothing short of miraculous. Born with life-threatening heart defects, these two tiny pups underwent open-chest surgery at just nine weeks old and amazed everyone with their strength and spirit. Now healthy and full of life, their Park of Roses session — part of my tails of the world project highlighting dogs across Columbus — was a celebration of love, healing, and second chances. I was so honored to capture their story and even more touched to celebrate their first birthday as a friend.

Three Majestic Pyrs & a Muggy Summer Evening
As part of our 2025 Tails of the World book project benefiting Freedom Tails Ohio, we photographed three senior Great Pyrenees at Slate Run on a warm, muggy evening. Despite their aloof personalities and the thick summer air, we captured some truly heartwarming portraits—including a special image of all three looking at the camera, thanks to a little editing magic. With one of the dogs battling cancer, this session served as a powerful reminder of how important it is to preserve memories while we still can.

Wrapping up 2024

Ash and Alder Photography, in partnership with Prodogs Ohio, is happy to announce it's pet calendar contest for 2025. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will assist Prodogs in covering expenses for dogs in their care, including but not limited to standard vetting, medications, crates, beds, toys, etc.

We encourage you to submit your favorite photo of your pets and ask your family and friends to vote for them. Fees for photo entries and votes will help Prodogs continue their efforts with rescuing, rehoming and rehabilitating companion animals
